Like Holding A Gift
Feeling it so precious
After a few hours, the waves of customers ceased. Joy helped her friend, Tokko, the store manager, and another staff member Eric to get through the expected hectic hours. Domestic and international customers entered and exited the door, with or without the store’s bags. Some customers left the store with big smiles, which made Joy happy.
“Thank you, Joy, for your help today. If I had just been with Eric, it would have been a disaster. This is from the last year’s sale at the store. It could help you with your work,” Tokko gave her a big smile and patted her arm, handing out a small pen case nicely wrapped in the store’s signature paper and ribbon.
“Really!? Oh, thank you, Tokko. I’m glad I could help today. That was one of the busiest days ever! But that was fun! I almost thought the last couple would buy everything they liked,” she put the gift in her bag.
“I know. By the way, are you free on Saturday? We are going to have a welcoming party for new staff members.”
“I would love to. But, I can’t. I have a … date,” Joy briefly mentioned her friend from her university, Joe, and the interesting dog, Win.
